On a rainy January 13, the mother dog was seen navigating the streets of Beylikduzu, her puppy gently held in her mouth. She approached the front door of the Beylikduzu Alfa Veterinary Clinic, seeking help for her ailing pup. Emir, a vet technician on duty, noticed her and swiftly took the puppy inside.
Veterinarian Baturalp Dogan recounted the unusual scene, “At first, he can’t understand the situation because it is very strange. A dog comes with a puppy in its mouth and drops the puppy on the ground. It is not easy to understand at first whether the puppy is alive.” Initially cold to the touch, the puppy appeared lifeless.
Despite the dire appearance, Emir detected a faint heartbeat using a stethoscope. This slim chance of life spurred the team into action. “We noticed a very slow heartbeat,” Dogan said. “That’s why I said, ‘It’s a hope, maybe he’ll live,’ and we started the fight.”
The veterinary team worked tirelessly, administering an adrenaline shot and warming the puppy with a hairdryer. Throughout the ordeal, Mom stayed close, watching anxiously over her pup.
Thanks to the swift intervention, the puppy survived. In a heartening twist, another male puppy, believed to be from Mom’s litter, had been brought to the clinic earlier that day. Together, they are the only survivors of a litter of six.
“They are doing very well right now, they are in good health,” Dogan shared, expressing cautious optimism about their recovery. Video footage from the clinic shows Mom nursing her puppies, all three of them steadily improving.
