Pearl, a two-year-old female Chihuahua, has broken the Guinness World Record for being the shortest-living dog. Measuring 9.14 cm (3.59 in) in height and 12.7 cm (5.0 in) in length, Pearl is shorter than a popsicle, smaller than a TV remote and almost as long as a dollar note.
Pearl’s mother is the identical sister of Miracle Milly, a Chihuahua that previously held the title for being the shortest-living dog until it passed away in 2020. Pearl’s height was measured three times at the Crystal Creek Animal Hospital in Orlando. The dog’s owner, Vanesa Semler, introduced Pearl on an Italian TV show and said that the dog has a calm temperament for a Chihuahua and loves to eat high-quality food like chicken and salmon and dressing up nice.
Ms Semeler said that Pearl is a “bit of a diva,” but was unfazed at being on stage in front of a live audience. She expressed her gratitude for having Pearl and the unique opportunity to break the record and share the news with the world.
